I started painting because I thought it might help me find some peace.

At the time I had spent years running a tech company in London. Everything I did had a purpose and an outcome.

Painting was different.

It was the first thing I had done in a long time that was not about money or results. I did not have a plan for it. I just kept coming back to it.

When I was painting everything else dropped away. No past. No future. Just what was in front of me.

That has not changed.

What has changed is what happens when the work leaves the studio.

I care about how the work looks and how it feels when you are in the same room as it.

That part is hard to capture in a photograph. The surface. The weight. The way it holds your attention when you are in the room with it.

What started as something just for me now lives in other people’s homes and does something for them too.

I find that fascinating.

My work is held in private homes in London, the French Alps and Singapore.
